ABOUT ME

Reyna is a current Dental Foundation Trainee who graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2025 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). She has a strong passion for multiple fields within dentistry, including oral surgery, restorative dentistry. During her time at university, she served as President of the Birmingham University Dental Students’ Society, demonstrating her commitment to leadership and student engagement.

Throughout her degree, Reyna has actively worked in widening participation to help students  build the skills and confidence needed to apply for competitive courses such as dentistry and medicine. This included regular online communication and one-to-one guidance, offering both application support and academic assistance for their A-Level studies. In her fourth year, she progressed into the role of an experienced mentor, where she now curates and develops valuable resources for the program to enhance its overall impact.

Reyna is currently based in the West Midlands however is relocating to Manchester to complete Dental Core Training in Maxillofacial Surgery.

Ashley Latter Leadership and Communication Programme

Completion of the Ashley Latter Communication Programme. Completed workshops on how to communicate effectively with patients and the dental team, ethical sales and public speaking.

Delivered a Presentation on Dental Careers to A-Level Students

To support widening participation, I spoke to 100 Year 12 students about applying to dentistry, shared my personal journey and highlighted the range of career opportunities within Dentistry.

Small Business Owner-

Started a small business at just 16 years of age, "Reyna Bakes" is a Midlands-based custom cake business for special occasions. Extensive experience in cake decorating and customer service.

Qualified Assessor for World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM)

WCSQM is a quality mark given to non-selective state schools. Reyna was a participant in this process for her school and later became an assessor for this organisation.

CHARITY

International Volunteer, CAMPS INTERNATIONAL 2019

  • Undertook a 4-week volunteering programme to help build sanitation facilities and community centres in rural Peru
  • Worked in local primary schools to teach basic English and Maths

Langar Aid Volunteer, 2019-2022

  • Weekly volunteering at Langar Aid, a Sikh charity who aim to deliver hot meals to those in need in the local community
  • Volunteered during the COVID-19 pandemic to help provide hot meals to vulnerable community members
