Hi, I’m Lwai, a fourth-year dental student at King’s College London. While my degree has given me a solid grounding in clinical dentistry, it’s the hands-on experiences, leadership roles, and opportunities to engage with the wider profession that have shaped who I am as an aspiring clinician.
I’m committed to continually improving myself both inside and outside the clinic. I’ve taken part in a wide range of clinical courses, from anterior composites and crown preparations to implant dentistry and cadaveric suturing, each helping me refine my practical skills and deepen my understanding of high quality patient care. I’ve also been fortunate enough to shadow leading clinicians from around the world, which has broadened my perspective on what it means to deliver dentistry at the highest level.
As I approach my final year, I’m focused on staying adaptable, curious, and ready to meet the evolving demands of modern dentistry.
Beyond the clinical setting, I’m passionate about charity work, sports, and entrepreneurship. In 2025, I joined Healthy Smiles for Syria in their mission to improve the oral health of children affected by the Syrian conflict, creating educational materials to support their outreach. In 2024, I co-founded UK Dental Students, now the largest dental student community on WhatsApp in the UK, and collaborated with industry leaders such as FMC to deliver the NXT-Gen Forum at the North of England Dentistry Show. Since 2021, I’ve also been a committed member of my university’s football team, which has taught me teamwork, discipline, and leadership in a completely different environment.
These experiences have strengthened my communication skills, sense of responsibility, and passion for working collaboratively, all qualities I hope to carry with me as I progress towards life as a clinician.
