WORK EXPERIENCE

Elective in Paediatric Dentistry

In my fourth year of study (2023) I underwent an elective at Kings College Hospital in the Paediatric Department. I assisted extraction of deciduous dentition under General Anaesthetic. Observed paediatric dental trauma and A&E clinics.

Surgical Exodontia Practical

Study day on porcine heads. Gained experience with tooth sectioning, creating bone gutters, and raising 2- and 3-sided flapss, and primary closure stitches to manage an AOC.

Posterior Composite Workshop

Attended a hands-on course by Dr. Kostas Karagiannopoulos at UK Dental Specialists on class 2 posterior composites. Gained experience using sectional matrices (Palodent), composite instrument kits, and modelling liquid.

Peterborough Community Services

Spent a week shadowing community dentists carry out assessments and treatment under IHS and GA for paediatric and special care patients.

I have arranged to spend a week shadowing Dr. Stephanie Agar and the team at CDS Bedford

CHARITY

KCL Smile Society, London

During my undergraduate training, I participated in visits to local primary schools with my peers to deliver education on oral health hygiene practices including brushing techniques and how often to visit the dentist.

BrightBites, London

I will be contacting local schools, constructing, and delivering lesson plans on topics such as oral hygiene, diet advise, and regular dental visits.
